LAURINBURG — The Richmond Ninth Grade Academy Gold boys’ basketball team lost its second straight game after Scotland handed the team a 76-47 defeat Monday.

According to Gold team coach Derrick Watkins, Scotland sprinted out to a 23-11 lead and never allowed their advantage to go under double-digits the rest of the way.

“They played an up tempo game, and we ended up tiring out,” Watkins said. “They kept subbing in a fresh five, which allowed them to play that tempo. They had a good night shooting, and they beat us up on the glass.”

Jamaal Kiegler scored a team-high 15 points, while Darius Wall added 10 points for the Gold squad.

The Gold team (4-6) will play host to Hoke at Rohanen Middle School on Jan. 20.
