Shawn Stinson is returning to the staff of the Richmond County Daily Journal as sports editor.
Stinson served as sports editor at the Journal from 2008-2009, and is pleased to be covering sports in the area once again.
A graduate of Queens University, in Charlotte, Stinson received his bachelor’s degree in mass communications.
Following his time serving as sports information director for Limestone College, University of Tampa, Coastal Carolina University and Florida Southern College, Stinson worked in the television and radio broadcast news industry as a reporter.
“I’m pleased that Shawn is returning to our team at the Journal,” said Rick Bacon, editor of the paper. “He not only has extensive experience in the communications industry, but is also a seasoned sports editor.”
Stinson has covered sports in the newspaper industry for the past 10 years. His most recent position was with The Robesonian, in Lumberton.
“I look forward to reporting once again on the teams in Richmond County,” said Stinson. “I have kept an eye on the teams here in the county from a distance, but I am excited to get back out and cover the local athletes.”
