Sometimes, seven innings of baseball just isn’t enough.

That’s how it was for the Richmond and Hoke County senior summer baseball teams Monday night at Raider Field. The two teams played a 10-inning marathon, and Richmond came out on top, 5-4 in a Central Carolina Summer Scholastic League game. Three Raider pitchers combined for an excellent mount effort Monday night. Alex Norton started and went three innings. Chandler Fann turned in two innings, and Jordan Tucker had the longest stint of the night-four innings - before Ryan Mercer came in and hurled a scoreless 10th.

In the bottom of the 10th, Mercer led off with a walk. He was bunted to second by Tucker, and then Jacob Sears connected for a walk-off single to drive in Mercer with the winning run.

The Raiders (6-1) travel to Terry Sanford in Fayetteville today. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m.

Richmond Jr. 5, East Montgomery 3

At East Montgomery, the Jr. Raiders improved to a perfect 6-0 with a road victory.

Joseph Griffith earned the win in relief of starter Cody Leviner.

The Jr. Raiders travel to Terry Sanford today for a 4:30 p.m. contest.
