David Hitt and Stefanie Otto were united in marriage at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2011. The outdoor ceremony, performed by Rev. Nicholas Montanino, took place in Wading River, New York.
The groom is the son of Bill and Martha Jo Hitt of Hamlet. He is the grandson of Joe and Ruth Maurice, also of Hamlet. William Hitt, of Greenville, North Carolina, the groom’s brother, served as the best man.
David earned a BS in Chemistry from North Carolina State University in 2005 and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of California, San Diego, in 2011.
The bride is the daughter of Frank and Andrea Otto of Wading River, New York. Stefanie earned a BS in Biochemistry in 2001 and a PhD in Neuroscience in 2007 from the State University of New York, Stony Brook. Most recently, she has done post doctoral research in Neuroscience at the University of California, San Diego.
The couple will soon reside in Avon, Montana. David will be employed as a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Montana, Missoula. Stefanie will begin her position as an Assistant Professor of Biology at Carroll College in nearby Helena, Montana.
