Jackie Page
Mr. Jackie O. Page, of Rockingham, a former resident of Charlotte, died Thursday, June 9, 2011, after a courageous five year battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 19, 1927, a son of the late J. Thomas and Della Scarborough Page.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and was in the occupation army of Japan. After military service, he attended Duke University and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Following graduation, he became an accountant with Bituminous Casualty Insurance, where he worked until his retirement in 1993.
Jackie was a York-Rite Mason and a Shriner for over fifty years. He was one of the original members of the Olde Providence Racquet Club, where he was an avid tennis player all of his life. He was a member of Myers Park Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Talmadge Page.
Jackie is survived by his brother, John T. Page Jr., whose wife is Eleanor Webb Page of Rockingham and by his sister in-law, Geraldine Page of Ayden.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2011, in the chapel of Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Mike Sykes and Rev. Allison Farrah officiating.
