Friday June 3rd was a lucky day for Mrs. Anna Lee Crump of Crump’s Realty who purchased ball number 64 in the first Richmond County Chamber of Commerce Golf Ball Drop. President Emily Tucker was lifted above a hole at Richmond Pines in a bucket truck powered by Aaron Lantz of Progress Energy who helped her dump over 300 balls onto a green at the course. Chairman T.C. Hall was on the ground to determine the ball closest to the hole, making Mrs. Crump the winner.
The proceeds from the ball drop plus a donation from the Chamber will be made to the Richmond County Schools in support of Communities In Schools of Richmond County.
The competition was tough, and the fun was abundant but it was a great day of networking for the Richmond County Chamber of Commerce’s 6th Annual Chamber Golf Scramble held at Richmond Pines Country Club. The weather was warm, and the golfers enjoyed a fun networking event that also provided some close final scores at the end. The tournament featured a captain’s choice format.
Special thanks to our tournament partners; Mabry’s Drug and Home Care, Four Oaks Bank, Piedmont Natural Gas, Pee Dee Electric, Richmond Community College, Progress Energy, R.A. Jefferies, Pepsi, Andy’s and Perdue.
“Despite economic times, this year’s tournament was a success with member’s support through sponsorships, prizes, players and volunteers,” said T.C. Hall, chairman of the 2011 Chamber’s Board of Directors.
First place winners were Team Pee Dee Electric with a score of 58 which included Todd Moore, Tony Clark, Josh Liles, and Tim Knopp. Second Place was Team BB&T Tracy Parris, Michelle Parrish, Rick Simmons and Paul Simmons. Team BB&T also shot a 58 and finished second after playing back to the hardest holes on the score cards.
