Mrs. Ruth Morris, 82, of 213 Pine Circle Drive, Rockingham, died Monday, May 9, 2011, at Sandhills Regional Medical Center in Hamlet. She was born May 29, 1928 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Nancy Pittman Ormsby and William Dewitt Ormsby, a former sheriff of Richmond County.

Mrs. Morris was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Morris will be conducted 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Matt Seals officiating. Interment will follow in Eastside cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham.

Mrs. Morris is survived by her husband of sixty six years, Arnold Morris; daughter, Kathy Leandro and husband, John of Raeford; grandson, Scott Leandro and wife, Jennifer and their children, Reagan and Tucker, all of Raleigh; grandson, Robb Leandro and wife, Jill and their daughter, Juliana, all of Raleigh; adopted son, David Burr and wife Joyce of Wadesboro; three nephews and one niece; Mrs. Morris’ constant companion, her dog, Buddy; and many close friends.

Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Elizabeth McGee and Mildred Crenshaw.
