Cornelia Adams

Mrs. Cornelia Catherine Sikes Adams, 82, of Rockingham died Monday, April 11, 2011 at Rockingham Manor. She was born August 15, 1928 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Flora Catherine McInnis Sikes and Clyde Jackson Sikes.

Mrs. Adams was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and also performed alterations at Belk’s for many years. In addition, Mrs. Adams had worked prior at Aleo Manufacturing in Rockingham.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Dawkins and Rev. Matt Seals officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving are her children, Cathy Swails of Stuart Va., Denise Sullivan of Rockingham, and Arlene Gordon of Hamlet; seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Marion Adams, brothers, Clyde Jackson Sikes Jr., and Johnny Sikes; and sisters, Rebecca Smith, Lucille Pryce Short, and Vallie Mae Duncan.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham and other times at the Sullivan home, 1011 Ann St., Rockingham.
