John Curtis “J.C.” Dobbins Sr.
FLORENCE, S.C. - John Curtis “J.C.” Dobbins Sr., 82, of Florence, S.C., passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, after a brief illness. He was born on Sept. 18, 1928 to the late Thomas Edward Dobbins and Annie Allred Dobbins. After graduating from Rockingham High School in Rockingham, Mr. Dobbins served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and married Betty Jean McLean in 1951. He worked for several years as a truck driver for Coble Dairy, Overnite and Standard trucking companies. Mr. Dobbins was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
He is predeceased by his wife of 45 years, and his daughter, Sharon Jean Dobbins.
Mr. Dobbins is survived by his son, John Curtis Dobbins Jr. and his wife, Mary Ann of Durham; a grandson, Daniel McLean Dobbins and a granddaughter, Anna Marguerite “Maggie” Dobbins, both of Raleigh; a sister, Frances Ann Shepard of Rockingham; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held graveside at 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011 at Mount Hope Cemetery. Burial will follow directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home of Florence.
The family received friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Sunday at the Funeral Home.
