Johnny Houston Ard, 58 , of 257 Homeplace Road, Rockingham, died Sunday, Mar. 20, 2011, at his home.

Mr. Ard was born June 20, 1952 in Richmond County, a son of the late Woodrow and Ora Ivey Ard. He had served his country in the US Army, was a member of the AmVets and had been employed with Pilot Life Insurance Company.

Surviving are his wife, Cathy Sue Nobles Ard of the home; son, Johnny Ard of Rockingham; daughters, Paula Sue Quick, Natasha Dawn Johnson and husband Tim, and Joanie Lynn Williams, all of Rockingham; brother, Marshall Ard of Lexington; sister, Blanche Chronister of Rockingham; grandchildren, Alysa and Breanna Whitt, Sherry Johnson, Kristen Goodwin, Taylor Brown, Ariel and Jadon Quick; step-grandchildren, Tina Howard and husband David, and Amber Johnson; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 23, 2011, in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald McDowell officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday in the Parkton Town Cemetery with military honors.

The family will see friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, mar. 22, 2011, at Carter Funeral Home and at other times at the home on Homeplace Road.
