Rising ninth graders and their parents interested in learning more about the Richmond Early College High can attend an informational session to learn about the school and what is has to offer.

Richmond Early College Principal Lawanda Walker said, “We encourage all rising ninths grade students and their families to attend. Counselors at each middle school have applications to the program which are due to us on March 31.”

Any student who is interested in becoming part of the 2011-2012 freshman class at the school should make plans to attend.

Each of the welcome sessions will be held at the Grimsley Health Science Building from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Ellerbe Middle School and Rohanen Middle School parents are invited to learn more about the school tonight from 5:30 pm. to 6:30 p.m. at the Grimsley Building, room 237.

Hamlet Middle School parents and students can attend Wednesday night at the same time, in Grimsley Building room 102. Rockingham Middle School parents and students can attend on Thursday at the same time and place.

Walker encourages all parents and students who are interested to come out. Parents who cannot make the scheduled session for their school are invited to attend the other sessions.

Students are admitted into the Early College program through an application process. Applications are available to any rising ninth grade student in Richmond county, including those not attending public schools. Students will be notified as to the status of their application later this spring.

Richmond Early College High students earn a high school diploma and an associates degree or two years of transferable college credit over the course of five years.
