March is National Nutrition Month. The theme for 2011 is “Eat Right With Color”. National Nutrition Month is a nutrition education and information campaign created annually in March by the American Dietetic Association. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.

In celebration of National Nutrition Month, the Richmond County WIC Program has planned various activities surrounding healthy habits and physical activity. Some of these activities include a “Move It” day and food demonstrations. Several themed presentations will display on the digital TV monitor inside the health department.

By increasing awareness and promoting lifestyle changes, we hope to decrease the obesity rates in this county. More information on National Nutrition Month may be found at www.eatright.org.
