A South Carolina man has been arrested in connection with the daylight armed robbery of a man using an automated teller machine on Main Street, Ellerbe, Dec. 16, said Capt. J. K. Glidewell, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Lee Frank Hope Jr., 20, McColl, S. C., has been arrested on a felony charge of robbery with a dangerous weapon. The warrant for his arrest lists his address also on Pinecone Circle, Ellerbe.
His bond was set at $100,000.
The victim was getting money from the ATM in Ellerbe and was about to get into his car when two men approached him and demanded his money. Hope allegedly showed a handgun in the waistband of his pants as a threat.
The robbers got $300, a wallet, driver’s license and two bank cards from the victim.
Detectives are continuing their investigation, Glidewell said.

n Property valued at $550 was stolen from a carport at a residence on U.S. 220, Rockingham.
n A 21-year-old man was cut on one of his hands by a suspect while walking across an open field at Hannah Pickett, Rockingham.
n Someone broke a window of a business on U.S. 1, Hoffman, causing $300 damage and stealing $1,600 worth of computer equipment.
n On Willow Pond Road, Hamlet, someone did $150 damage to a door of a house and stole $2,259 worth of property.
n On Northshore Trail, Rockingham, someone did $30 damage to a mailbox.
n At a house on 1st Street, Safie, Rockingham, someone stole a DVD player valued at $200 and $150 worth of DVDs.
n While in the roadway on 6th Street, Safie, a 21-year-old man was hit in the head with someone using a fist during an assault on him.
n Someone did $100 damage to a window of a house on Lindsey Drive, Ellerbe.
