Curtis “Kiki” Yannone Jr., 30, of Rockingham, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, in FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 2, 1981, in Richmond County a son of Curtis Yannone Sr. and the late Ermina Jesse Yannone. Curtis attended Richmond County Schools and was a graduate of Richmond Senior High School class of 1999. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 2002 and served until 2006, he then joined the North Carolina National Guard in 2006. He served one tour in Iraq with the 30th BCT and was a member of B Battery 1/113th Field Artillery of Monroe. He was an Armament Inspector at the Combined Support Maintenance Shop in Raleigh with the North Carolina National Guard.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at King’s Gate Church International with Pastor Eddie McLean, Pastor Benjamin May, and Pastor Jason Gainey officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Dr. Burton Jano; and paternal grandmother, Mary Jane Yannone.

Surviving are his parents, Curtis Yannone Sr. and Janet Yannone of Rockingham; sisters, Dentia Yannone Cauley and her husband, Michael of Rockingham and Stephanie Lynn Boyette and her husband, Cricket of Hamlet; brothers, Jonathan Lynn and his wife, Rebecca of Wilmington and Christopher Lynn and his wife, Blanca of Lexington; maternal grandmothers, Cathlina Jesse and Elinora Jano; paternal grandfather, Anthony Yannone Sr.; grandparents, Shirley Carlisle, and Raymond and Ruth Covington; nieces, Alannah Yannone, Morgan Cauley, Madeline Boyette, Ashley Grace Lynn, and Savannah Lynn; and nephews, Matthew Howard, Jacob Howard, Ethan Boyette, Tyler Boyette, and Christian Boyette.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011 from 6 - 9 p.m. at King’s Gate Church International.

Memorials may be made in Curtis’ memory to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N. US 1 Hwy., Rockingham, NC 28379.
