Mr. Jack Harold Smith, 84, of 904 Richmond Road, Rockingham, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2010 at his home.

Mr. Smith was born April 27, 1926 in Union County, North Carolina, a son of the late Horace C. and Aldie Haigler Smith. He was a member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church and had retired from Clark Equipment Company. He had served his country in the US Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel P. Smith in 2009, brothers, Lewis and Guywn Smith, and sisters, Letha Smith and Mable Graves.

Surviving are his daughters, Linda Duncan and husband Dan of Valdese, NC, Judy Campbell of Rockingham; brothers, Lamar Smith of Fuquay Varina, O. Brown Smith, and wife Julia, of Rockingham; grandchildren, Heather Duncan, Trey Campbell and significant other Martha Osborne, Joshua Duncan and wife Lindsay, Crystal Bower and husband Matthew; and great grandson, Jackson Bower.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday at Park Avenue Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gary Richardson and Rev. Jim Lankford officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park with military honors.

The family will see friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Saturday at Carter Funeral Home and at other times at the home on Richmond Road.
