A recent letter to the editor from Fred Caudle said, It’s all right there in the Scriptures. But no Scripture is mentioned. Right where? There are 66 books and about 700,000 words, so right where? We need to be able to look it up instead of just hearing “it’s right there in the Scriptures” or “it says somewhere in the Scripture.” And there’s a pot of gold at somewhere at the end of the rainbow too!
That leaves people with the impression that one doesn’t know what the Scriptures say. This not an admonishment but good advice. I like to be given the Scriptures so I can check to be sure you are right. I hope you want to do the same with me.
How do we know what Scripture says if we don’t even know where it says it. Many people don’t know what the Scriptures say and when we speak of Scripture we should be able to support what we say with Scripture so less informed people can check it out for themselves.
2 Timothy 3:15-17 “All Scripture is breathed out (inspired) by Elohim and profitable for teaching...”
Matthew 22:28-30 “...you go astray, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of Elohim...”
Acts 17:10-12 “...and searched the Scriptures daily, if these words were so...” “The study of Scripture is our only protection from deception.”
