Services to observe holiday hours

Many businesses and offices will be closing for the holidays on Thursday around 2 p.m., and won’t reopen until early next week, or the week after.

Richmond Community College will be closed Dec. 23 - 31 and will reopen on Jan. 3. Registration begins on Jan. 6.

Richmond County offices will be closed Thursday for an employee furlough day and Friday and Monday for the holiday. Offices will reopen on Tuesday at 8 a.m. Compact sites and box sites will close at 1 p.m. on Friday. The compact sites will reopen Monday at 8 a.m. and the box site will reopen at 7 a.m. for the Hamlet, Rockingham and Cordova. Ellerbe box sites will open at 7:30 a.m. on Monday.

City of Rockingham government offices will be closing Thursday at 2 p.m., and will be closed Friday and Monday. Thursday’s trash will be collected on Wednesday and Friday’s trash will be collected on Thursday.

The Town of Ellerbe will be closing Thursday at 2 p.m. and will reopen on Tuesday. Garbage pickup will be on Thursday and Tuesday.

The Town Hall of Dobbins Heights will be closed on Friday and Monday and reopen on Tuesday. Trash pickup will be Tuesday and Thursday.

Hamlet City Hall will be closed Friday and Monday. The trash collection schedule is unaffected, however businesses have been asked to put their trash out on Thursday.

The Richmond County Daily Journal will be open on Friday, but business offices and circulation will be closed on Monday, Dec. 27 to celebrate Christmas. A Tuesday paper will still be published.
