Thinking a man was waving for help, a motorist in Rockingham stopped and was robbed by the man, Rockingham police said.

A man was riding along on Hamer Road toward Aslington when a man waved at him like he needed help, the victim told police.

The man on the street asked him to roll down his window; but since it was broken, he opened the door.

The victim told police the suspect leaned in his vehicle with a gun in his hand and demanded money.

When another car came up behind them, the man ran from the scene.

The victim had handed over $20 to the robber.
