There will be a service to celebrate her life 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Wadesboro with Dr. Robert Hunter, Jr. officiating. A private interment will be in Richmond County Memorial Park, Rockingham. The family will greet friends at the church following the service and other times at the home.
Catherine was born Dec. 6, 1915, in Richmond County, a daughter of the late John Vance Meacham and Anna Jane Bailey Meacham. She and her late husband, Charles E. Jenkins, operated Q and Q Store and later owned and operated Charlie’s Superette. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church and was a member of The Fellowship Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Cathy Nobles, by a grandson, Greg Thomas and by her brothers and sisters, Alvin, Howard, J.V., Bynum, Edith and Helen Meacham.
Surviving are her children, Charles “Jack” Jenkins and wife, Lillie of Winterville, Herbert “Herb” Jenkins and wife, Beverly of New Port News, Va., Diana Drye and husband, Lynwood of Badin Lake, Kay Thomas of Hamlet, Ed Jenkins and wife, Cecilia of Badin, Jill Gulledge and husband, Joe of Lilesville, Glenda Tice and husband, Barry and Glenn Jenkins and wife, Claudia both of Wadesboro; her sister, Louise Bailey and husband, Herbert of Rockingham; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
