ROCKINGHAM — American Legion Post 147, Rockingham, installed officers for 2015-16 Friday night at the Post Home on Ledbetter Lake.

Richard W. Neville, Southeast Region national vice commander from Clayton-based Post 71, was the installing officer.

Officers are: Wayne Johnson, commander; John R. Carr, first vice commander; and Carlton Hawkins, second vice commander.

Phillip Bradley is adjutant and finance officer; Michael D. White, judge advocate; David Williams, chaplain; and Thomas Schoonover, sergeant-at-arms; Jeff Joyner, post service officer; James Gross, membership; and Tom MacCallum, historian.

Members of the executive committee are Arthur Beardsley, Richard W. Lunceford and Robert L. Steele Sr.

Steele is past commander, having served for three continuous years. He will be assuming new duties as commander of District 16, N.C. Department of American Legion, which includes Richmond County.

Recent activities of Post 147 include coordinating the Memorial Day program May 23 at the VFW 4203 Memorial Park and the community flag disposal ceremony.
