To the editor:

Inspiring, emotional and beautiful are but a few words that I could use to describe the Memorial Day ceremony held at the Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday, May 23.

The good Lord gave ideal weather for the service. You looked with pride as the Junior ROTC raised the flag, the singing of the national anthem and hearing the proclamations and Mr. Ken Goodman’s history of our flag and tribute to all veterans, past and present. I think that Mr. Goodman’s wife should get him to give this speech in every school in the county.

I had a lump in my throat as I watched the laying-on of wreaths, a tear in my eye during the rifle volley and the sound of Taps. The park was clean and neat, with each stone having a small flag fluttering in the breeze.

Then to top it off, my wife and I shared a burger with other veterans. A most enjoyable and patriotic way to spend the morning.

Thanks to all who planned and participated in making this such a memorable moment. ‘Nuff sed.
