Rick Hoover and Cindy Hoover of State College, Pennsylvania, announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Jeanne Katherine Hoover, of Greenville, North Carolina, to William Wren Hitt, also of Greenville.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Melvin and Kathleen Hoover of York, Pennsylvania, and the late John and Jeanne Fitzgerald of Lake Mohawk, New Jersey.

Ms. Hoover is a high school graduate of State College Area High School. She then graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s in English and later the University of Pittsburgh with a master’s of library and information science. Ms. Hoover is currently employed as an assistant professor and scholarly communication librarian at East Carolina University in Greenville.

The groom-to-be is the son of Bill and Martha Jo Hitt of Hamlet. He is the grandson of the late William Marious Hitt and Brownie Hitt McLean and the late Joe and Ruth Maurice, all of Hamlet.

Mr. Hitt is a high school graduate of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham, North Carolina. He then graduated from The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s in English and later from East Carolina University with a master’s of science in counselor education. Mr. Hitt is currently employed as a counselor at Pitt Community College in Greenville.

The outdoor wedding ceremony is planned for Friday, July 31, 2015 at the H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens on the campus of The Pennsylvania State University. A reception will follow at Celebration Hall.
