RSHS volleyball workouts to begin

Summer workouts for the upcoming Richmond Senior volleyball season will start 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. June 17. All perspective players must have a physical and complete all forms to participate. For information, contact Michelle Wimpey at 910-723-5463.

Baseball camp slated for RSHS

The annual Richmond Senior Baseball Camp for children 6 to 12 years of age is scheduled for June 15 to 17. The cost is $60 per child and includes a T-shirt. Each session will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Campers are responsible for bringing their own equipment — shoes, gloves and bats. The camp will be run by members of the Richmond baseball coaching staff as well as current and former players. The goal of the camp is to “provide hands-on training and teaching of the necessary baseball skills to raise the level of play of each participant.” For information, contact Ricky Young at 910-844-4484 or 910-997-9820.

Soccer camp set for Richmond

The 15th annual Richmond Senior Soccer Camp will be held from June 22 to 25 on the practice field. The camp is open to children from 5 to 18 years of age. The cost is $65, which includes a T-shirt. Each session will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Each participant needs to come with the proper equipment — cleats and shin guards — each day. For information, contact Bennie Howard at 910-639-2453.

Richmond to hold volleyball camp

The annual Richmond Senior Volleyball Camp is set for July 28 and 29. The camp is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon each day in Raider Gymnasium. The camp is open to girls that will be entering fifth through eighth grade this fall. The cost is $30 and includes a T-shirt. Campers should bring a water bottle and knee pads each day. Forms are available at the high school and Browder Park. The goal of the camp is to “provide an opportunity for all camp participants to develop their fundamental volleyball skills and to increase their knowledge of the game while having fun.” For information, contact Michelle Wimpey at 910-723-5463.

Rohanen hoops camp scheduled

The annual Rohanen Middle School Basketball Camp for boys and girls 5 to 16 years of age is set for June 15 to 19 at the school. The hours are 8 a.m. to noon each day. Frank Harrington will head the camp. Participants will be instructed on improving their skills such as dribble, passing and shooting. There will also be a hot shot competition. Soccer signups to continue in Hamlet

Youth soccer registration for the city of Hamlet Parks and Recreation Department will continue until July 24 and a late registration period will be held July 27 to 31. The cost is $30 per child and $40 during the late registration period. Signups will be accepted at Hamlet City Hall from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Participants must have turned 4 years of age by April 30 and cannot have turned 13 by the same date. For information, contact the Hamlet Parks and Recreation Department at 910-582-7998.

Swimming lessons set for Rockingham

The city of Rockingham Parks and Recreation Department will continue accepting applications for its youth swimming lessons. The cost is $40 per session and a discount is available for a family that registers two or more children. There will be three sessions and children will be divided by age group (4 to 6 and 7 and older). The first session is scheduled for June 15 to 26, the second will run from July 6 to 17 and the final classes are set for July 20 to 31. The 7 and older group will meet from 10 to 11 a.m. The youngest group will meet from 11 a.m. to noon. For information or to register, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 910-895-6810.

Rockingham accepting summer camp signups

The city of Rockingham Parks and Recreation Department will continue to take signups for its Summer Day Camp programs. The cost is the camp is $65 per week with an additional $6 for insurance for the first week of camp. A deposit is required at the time of registration. The camp will begin June 15 and run through Aug. 7 and operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. For information, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 910-895-6810.

Softball league sets final meeting

The final meeting for the Hot Mamas softball league prior to opening day is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Millstone Community Building.
