KERNERSVILLE — Richmond’s boys and girls cross country teams wrapped up their season this past weekend at the 4A NCHSAA Regionals at Ivey Beeson Park.

The boys team finished 15th overall, with senior Brandon Silva, junior Zachariah Hamilton and sophomore Joey Nicholson being the first three Raiders to cross the finish line. Silva placed 54th, Hamilton came in 82 and Nicholson wasn’t too far behind with his 84th-place finish.

The Lady Raiders came in 13th place thanks to sophomore Ariel Brown, senior Shelby Matheson and freshman Gracelyn Weatherford. Brown — named All-SAC at last week’s conference championship race — finished 77th, Matheson was right behind her in 78th place and Weatherford placed 80th.

“Both teams had a great season,” head coach Reggie Miller said. “I’m so proud of all of their hard work, determination and commitment to cross country this season.”
