Soccer’s season ends at Grimsley
GREENSBORO — The Richmond Senior girls soccer team fell 9-0 to Greensboro Grimsley in the first round of the NCHSAA State Playoffs on Tuesday evening.
Grimsley dominated from the opening, scoring two goals in the first five minutes. The game was called with about eight minutes to go.
“We did not have a very good mindset going into the game,” coach Bennie Howard said. “We just didn’t play disciplined soccer. And really didn’t put forth our best foot to represent the conference.”
The loss ended the Lady Raiders’ season and gave them a final record of 11-10-2 — their first winning season in 10 years.
“With that being said, we had a good year,” Howard added. “We’ve got a great group of girls coming back and a good group of girls coming up. We look forward to next year.”
