A Winston-Salem man was arrested recently by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on a series of drug-related charges. Ellerbe residents of Marvin McCaskill Road to have water turned off for one day
NCDOT contractors will be turning off the water on a portion of Marvin McCaskill Road in Ellerbe to tie in a new relocated water line, prior to a new bridge replacement. The Order of the Long Leaf Pine was awarded to three Richmond County citizens on Feb. 22. Issued by Gov. Pat McCrory, the awards were in recognition of past community service, in addition to being strongly involved with the Discovery Place KIDS-Rockingham project. It is the highest community service award made by the governor. Receiving the awards were, front row from left, J. Neal Cadieu, Dr. John S. Stevenson and Russell E. Bennett. Eighth graders at Ellerbe Middle School celebrated Happy Pi Day with a fun activity. Students gathered into the cafeteria Thursday afternoon to participate in a mathematical exercise. The task was to figure out the surface area of a pie using the Pi equation. After completing the exercise, some students participated in a contest of “who can recite the most digits of pi.” All the students ended the afternoon activity by enjoying a wonderful piece of pie.
