ThunderFest returns to downtown
On Friday, April 12, ThunderFest will rock downtown Rockingham in Harrington Square in celebration of NASCAR returning to Rockingham Speedway, a.k.a. The Rock. The event will open at 11 a.m. and end at 10 p.m. and will include a free kids zone with racing-themed inflatables, a rock wall and laser tag which are all sponsored by Richmond County government. Rev. Stanley Layton has become pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Ellerbe. He was examined by the Central Carolina Presbytery on Nov. 27, 2012, and he and his family relocated to Ellerbe during the last week of December 2012. North Carolina State Senator Gene McLaurin, of Rockingham, filed two bills Thursday with co-sponsor Senator Josh Stein, for the Wake District.
