Two Richmond County middle school students are going to be competing at the National Junior Beta Club Convention in June. Maggi Chambers, of Ellerbe Middle School, and Josh Brewer, of Rockingham Middle School, won their events at the 21st North Carolina Junior Convention. Students from all four Richmond County middle schools tested their art skills on March 9 at the 20th annual ARTalympics. The event, which took place at Crain’s Creek Middle School in Carthage, N.C., was started as an Olympic type competition for art students in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades.
