Rockingham Police Department promotes officers
The Rockingham Police Department promoted five law enforcement officers to various positions on Wednesday. “This is a big day in the Rockingham Police Department,” said Monty Crump, city manager. Family and other members of the department attended a pinning ceremony at City Hall to honor the officers. Vietnam Veterans may soon get their own holiday, according to a bill filed with U.S. Senate. Forest Service is allowed to obtain Federal Excess Personnel Property (FEPP) from the federal government and is also obtained through the Department of Defense Fire Fighter Assistance Program. Fatal crash still under investigation
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of a traffic crash on Blewitt Falls Road in Rockingham on March 8 that killed two people. According to the police report and to Sergeant Travis Harper, Ta Ku Say, 25, was driving a 1999 Isuzu Sport Utility Vehicle with six other people in the car when he ran off of the road and hit a tree.
