School district reacts to shots fired report
An announcement to the parents and guardians of Fairview Heights Elementary School students went out from the Richmond County Schools Thursday morning just before 11 a.m. to inform them of shots fired near the school. “This morning we received word that gunshots were reported in the Hamlet area near Fairview Heights Elementary School,” said Richmond County Schools Superintendent George Norris in a statement to the Daily Journal on Thursday....

Report of shots fired near Fairview Heights Elementary School
Richmond County Schools sent out an automated phone message this morning just before 11 a.m. to announce to parents that shots were fired near Fairview Heights Elementary School in Hamlet. According to school officials, officers responded to the disturbance which was located and found not to be on school premises. Class schedules were not altered or disrupted, school officials said. If someone calls you claiming to be from the company Microsoft, you might become the victim of a scam. Computer experts say Microsoft employees won’t call you out of the blue unless you have requested their service.
