U.S. Senate designates April 18 as ‘National Lineman Appreciation Day’
The U.S. Senate has unanimously passed a resolution designating April 18, 2013, as National Lineman Appreciation Day. The bill, introduced last week by Sens. Isakson (R-GA) and Bennet (D-CO), moved quickly and included support from Sens. Richard Burr (R) and Kay Hagan (D), of North Carolina. Louie Graves was 13-years-old 50 years ago when his father started Graves Body Shop in Hamlet. The shop, now located on Vance Street in downtown Hamlet, was once on Gibson Smith Road. Jeff Moore and Rodney Honeycutt of Git-R-Done Garage didn’t know they’d catch a massive catfish when they left their shop Thursday morning around 8:30 a.m. By noon, Moore and Honeycutt were hauling a 78-pound blue catfish onto their boat. “We caught him on a noodle with shad,” said Honeycutt. “We caught a nice one.
