The Richmond County Judicial Center in downtown Rockingham was evacuated Tuesday at 11:14 a.m. when the fire alarm was activated, according to Captain Steve Newton with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
“A small child on the second floor pulled the alarm,” said Netwon. “So we had to evacuate the building and then we checked the whole building.”
As common proceedure, when a fire alarm is activated, fire trucks are dispatched to the location. Four Rockingham Fire Department trucks arrived on scene.
According to Newton, no one was injured and the guardian of the child was spoken to about the incident.
