The search begins for this year’s cutest kid
by Cassidy Odom
Richmond County Daily Journal

Who has the cutest kid in Richmond County? Would you vote for your neighbor’s kids over your brother’s? We’ll soon find out who Richmond County thinks is the cutest with our annual Cutest Kids Contest.

If you’ve got them, flaunt them. If you know them, promote them, with parental permission of course, and if you want to see them win, start voting for them.

There are plenty of them in our area, that’s for sure, and no doubt parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, along with just about anyone else who knows a youngster, will want to enter them for the contest which is about to go live.

All one has to do is go to yourdailyjournal.com website, just find your favorite photo, upload it on the “Submit an Entry” page and you’re good to go. Then get your friends and family to vote, view other entries and vote for your favorite. Watch the paper, the website and Facebook to see who’s entered and once voting begins, see who’s leading the pack.

Everyone can participate. All you really need is an email address. Everything about the contest is free, including the fun you’ll have uploading pictures and watching progress as the contest grows and all those adorable pictures begin popping up on the website and in the newspaper.

Submissions will be open on Monday, May 13, and voting will begin on Saturday, June 1. Deadline for voting will be 5 p.m. June 15. Photos and votes will all be done online. All submissions this year will be placed in one category.

The age requirement for children to enter is from birth to 12 years of age. The winner will be announced on June 17. Each verified account may place up to five (5) votes in a 24 hour period. Automated voting of any kind is not allowed. Detection of said automated voting may lead to votes being voided.

“Discovery Place-KIDS Rockingham, is our title sponsor,” said Daily Journal Publisher Rick Bacon. “We are very proud to have the most kid-friendly place around sponsor our cutest kids contest. There will be one ‘cutest kid’ chosen from all those submitted. The voting all happens online and the winning child gets a $175 prize from the Daily Journal and Discovery Place-KIDS.”

Who’s got the cutest kid? We don’t know yet, but it just might be yours.
