Being older and wiser just got better.
Sandhills Regional Medical Center in Hamlet is launching a new program for seniors age 60 and older called Senior Extra. And it’s absolutely free to join.
The hospital will hold a kickoff on Thursday, Aug. 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Cole Auditorium, on the campus of Richmond Community College.
The event will feature a physicians’ panel, screenings, refreshments and the chance to sign up and learn more about Senior Extra.
Senior Extra is committed to helping seniors make healthy choices that enable them to live their lives to the fullest. In doing so, Sandhills Regional will offer routine health seminars focusing on prevention, the importance of regular screenings and healthy lifestyle activities exclusively for members of Senior Extra, beginning with Thursday’s event.
In addition, card-carrying members of Senior Extra can enjoy benefits from the hospital and local businesses. Benefits include:
• 10 percent discount in the hospital gift shop and cafeteria;
• Free notary services at the hospital by appointment (910-205-8124);
• Free copying of important papers at the hospital (health, tax, insurance);
• 25 percent discount at Freedom Fitness, Richmond Plaza Shopping Center, Rockingham;
• 10 percent discount at Smith Optometric, 720 U.S. 74 Business (inside Walmart); and
• 10 percent discount on any meal, and free tea or lemonade with any purchase at House of Fish, 801 East Broad Ave., Rockingham.
“We are thankful for the support of these local businesses for participating in Senior Extra,” said Kimberly Harrington, Sandhills Regional’s marketing and public relations director. “The program is only as successful as the benefits we can provide and we hope to keep adding to the extras.”
Any other business that would like to participate should call the marketing department at 910-205-8121.
