An annual career fair at Richmond Community College is ramping back up, so polish up your resumes.
According to Carlotta Knotts who organizes business events at RCC’s Cole Auditorium, last year’s event drew around 300 applicants and this year attendees can expect to see at least 35 different vendors, consisting of employers ranging from small businesses to state law enforcement agencies.
Attendees interested in applying for jobs can speak with representatives from small, family owned businesses, manufacturing industries, health institutes, correctional institutes and various state agencies.
The career fair will take place at RCC’s Cole Auditorium on April 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.
Knotts said applicants should wear casual business attire and bring several resumes with them. Qualifications needed for the jobs offered include an associates degree and/or work experience.
“We heard from (employers) who went last year,” said Knotts. “They filled out satisfaction surveys and many indicated they were pleased with the number of people that showed up. We had a large turnout last year.”
This event is open to students as well as the public.
“We strongly urge applicants to have resumes,” said Knotts. “Vendors will ask questions and last year we had one company that hired on the spot at the fair.”
