Through a collaborative effort by the Rockingham Police Department Vice/Narcotics Division and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics Division, 426 grams of marijuana was taken off the streets on Feb. 8, said Rockingham Police Lt. Creed Freeman.
Police said the drug bust resulted in the collection of drugs and money, and the arrest of four people.
According to the Freeman and the incident report, those arrested include:
• Marcus Lee Wilson, 26, of 441 Sandhill Road, Rockingham, is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, sell and delivery marijuana, maintaining a dwelling, possession of drugs within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of firearm by a felon. He was arrested and placed under a $50,000 bond.
• William Joseph Allen, 46, of 441 Sandhill Road, Rockingham, is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, conspiracy to sell marijuana, maintaining a dwelling and possession of drugs within 1,000 feet of a school. He was arrested and placed under a $50,000 bond.
• Rondell Shellette Nelson, 32, of 441 Sandhill Road, Rockingham, is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of drugs within 1,000 feet of a school and maintaining a dwelling. She was arrested and placed under a $50,000 bond.
• Keith Tyrone Allred Jr., 18, of 181 Crestway Drive, Rockingham, is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drugs within 1,000 feet of a school. He was arrested and placed under a $5,000 bond.
Police confiscated more than 400 grams of marijuana, a Maverick 12 gauge shotgun, three digital scales, more than $3,000 in currency, plastic sandwich bags and pieces of personal mail, the report said.
Freeman said that an ongoing investigation led to these arrests. Law enforcement received reports that marijuana was being sold out of the house and a controlled buy was made at the residence, he said. Law enforcement then served the search warrant on Feb. 8.
“This is just one example of what we said we would do,” said Richmond County Sheriff James Clemmons Jr.
Clemmons said law enforcement is working together to help the community.
Rockingham Police Chief Billy Kelly said, “I feel like I can call the Sheriff’s Office, Hamlet Police Department, NC Highway Patrol and ask for assistance and receive it instantly.”
“This is just an example of our cooperation,” Kelly said.
Lawmen said this is not the first time Wilson has been in trouble with the law. According to Freeman, Wilson was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a dwelling, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of drug paraphernalia in 2011 at the same address.
