Pee Dee Crisis Pregnancy Center has a new name and phone number.

Located in Hope’s Doorway at 110 N. Lawrence St., Rockingham, the center is now called the Pee Dee Pregnancy Resource Center.

“We decided the new name would more aptly identify what we do,” said Betty Samuels, the administrative assistant for the center. Samuels said they are more of a pregnancy resource center than a pregnancy crisis center.

The phone number for the center also changed. The new number is 910-997-3040.

“The old one was too hard to remember,” Samuels said of the phone number change.

The center has also increased the services that are offered. The new programs are Forgiven and Set Free and Empty Arms Support Group.

The Empty Arms Support Group meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. and is designed to help mothers deal with the loss of an infant. Forgiven and Set Free will begin on May 20 and is a post abortion recovery program designed to help mothers who regret having an abortion.

These new programs are in addition to their original programs which are the Abstinence program and Earn While You Learn.

Earn While You Learn is an educational program that allows parents to earn ‘mommy money’ that can be exchanged for items at infant and mommy boutiques inside of the center.

The Resource Center is a non-profit organization that provides resources to individuals who are facing pregnancy. The services are geared towards mothers but the services may also be helpful to men, according to staff.

Samuels said the center is “life affirming,” which means they do not provide abortions, birth control or condoms.

All of the services provided are free and confidential. For more information about the services, contact the center at 910-997 -3040. Hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
