The Richmond County Woman’s Club has elected new officers for 2013 who will serve until 2015.
The officers elected are Ramona Davis, recording secretary; Lillian Terry, Marjorie Rainey and Helen Elliott, finance chairs; Sally Pierce, treasurer; Martha Richardson, first vice president; Martha Webb, second vice president; Betty Matthews, historian; Lynn Clewis, president, and Jeanette Melvin, corresponding secretary.
Established in 2000, the club’s goal is to support and enrich the community through various projects.
The club gives the Margret Williams Nursing Scholarship to two Richmond Senior High School students to help the students pay for books and the club also donates to local charities such as Our Daily Bread, Relay for Life and Sandhills Children Center.
The ladies also go to the Cordova school once a month and pass out treats, such as juice boxes and cookies or crackers, to the special needs children.
The club meets the fourth Tuesday of the month, January through May and September through December, at the Richmond Memorial Hospital cafeteria. New members are always welcome and there is no age requirement to join.
