ROCKINGHAM — The top six schools held their place in this week’s Associated Press poll.

Richmond Senior (9-0) remained third in balloting following its 27-18 win over Southeastern Conference foe Pinecrest. The Raiders will look to close out the regular season undefeated for the first time since 2006 when they play host to archrival Scotland Friday night.

Butler continued to sit atop the rankings, earning all 11 first-place votes. The Bulldogs improved to 9-0 on the year with their 58-0 victory over South Mecklenburg. New Bern (9-0) stayed in the No. 2 spot following its 19-7 win against Laney.

The Bulldogs will face off against Independence, while the Bears will take on J.H. Rose Friday.

Mallard Creek (8-1), Garner (10-0) and East Forsyth (10-0) were ranked fourth through sixth, respectively.

North Davidson and Scotland switched positions this week. The Knights moved to 10-0 with a 55-0 victory over R.J. Reynolds and was ranked seventh. The Fighting Scots (8-1) cruised past Lumberton 35-7 and dropped to eighth.

Porter Ridge (8-1) held steady at ninth, while Leesville Road (9-0) entered the poll at No. 10.

Just like the AP poll, this week’s NCPreps.com rankings are relatively unchanged.

Butler snagged all 10 first-place votes to stay at No. 1. New Bern, Richmond, Mallard Creek, East Forsyth, Garner and Scotland followed the Bulldogs ranked second to seventh, respectively.

North Davidson and Leesville Road flipped places. The Knights moved up to eighth, while the Pride dropped to No. 9. New Hanover (8-1) remained 10th in this week’s poll.

The CarolinaPreps.com latest rankings were not available at press time. Last week, Butler was ranked No. 1, receiving all 13 first-place votes. New Bern edged the Raiders for second by two points. East Forsyth and Mallard Creek flipped spots, with the Eagles moving to No. 4, while the Mavericks fell to fifth.

Scotland is sixth, followed by Garner, North Davidson, New Hanover and Independence.

Richmond stayed steady in the Maxpreps.com rankings this week, remaining at No. 4. Butler supplanted New Bern for the top spot. New Bern dropped to second, followed by East Forsyth. Mallard Creek was fifth, North Davidson jumped to No. 6, while Scotland moved to seventh. New Hanover, Garner and Porter Ridge (8-1) rounded out the top 10.

New Bern was still in the top spot, followed by Butler and East Forsyth. Mallard Creek, Porter Ridge, North Davidson, New Hanover, Scotland, Porter Ridge and Garner completed the top 10.
