Lawmen apprehend accused kidnapper

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a man accused of kidnapping and assault of a woman and child, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Charles Travis Watts, 30, of West Griffin Street in Lilesville, was arrested on Jan. 27 on three counts of first degree kidnapping, first degree burglary, assault on a female, felony child abuse, and injury to personal property, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

According to the arrest report, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Anson County Sheriff’s Office in the case. Watts was wanted for an incident that occurred on Jan. 15 on Pleasant Hill Church Road in Richmond County, lawmen said.

The report said that Watts was arrested at a residence in Polkton and then transported to Richmond County.

He was placed in the Richmond County jail and held under a $500,000 secure bond, lawmen said.
