Johnny Louis Taylor, 62, died Thursday at Scotland County Hospice.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Hamlet. Reverend J. L. McCullers will be officiating followed by interment at the Richmond Memorial Park Cemetery, Rockingham.

Family visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Hamlet.

Taylor was born on Sept. 26, 1949, in Montgomery, Ala., to the late James and Eula Poole Taylor. He graduated from Hamlet High School in 1968. While in high school, he was a member of the track team. After graduation he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Fort Bragg. He served his country proudly as an Army medic.

Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, named above and sisters, Dorothy Taylor Williams and Alice Shelby.

He is survived by a wife, Francine Zinnerman Taylor, two daughters, Mosi Taylor-Brown (Sherman), Chesapeake, Va., and Keisha Smith, San Antonio, Texas, two sons, Johnny Louis Taylor Jr. (Anna), Schweinfurt, Germany, and Jelani R. Boyd (Rosalind), Hamlet, two brothers, James Taylor Jr., Huntsville, Ala., and David Ellis Taylor (Melissa), High Point, one sister, Hazel Marie Boone (Donald), Hamlet, three granddaughters, one grandson, and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Nelson Funeral Home, Hamlet, is assisting the family.
