Mr. Fairley Chavis, 74, of 106 Seago Lane, Rockingham, died, Saturday, October 13, 2012, at his residence.
He was born April 4, 1938, in Richmond County, son of Zack Chavis and Maggie Grooms Chavis.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at Harrington Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm.
At other times the family will be at the home of his daughter, Donna Kay, 1599 Hwy 177, Wallace, SC
A Graveside Funeral will be Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Northam Cemetery, Rockingham, with Rev. Joe Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his late wife, Peggy Wall Chavis; brothers, Amos, Zack, Sterlin, Walter, John, and Hoover Chavis.
Mr. Chavis is survived by his daughter, Donna Kay Grooms of Wallace, SC; brothers, Levi Chavis, Roman Chavis and Joe Thomas Chavis all of Hamlet; sisters, Thelma Knight of Hamlet and Caroline Parrish of Rockingham; grandchildren, Kevin Coble, Justin Grooms, Adam Grooms and Christy Grooms; and great grandchildren, Hunter James and Taytum Nichole Coble.
Memorials may be made in his memory to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N Hwy 1, Rockingham, NC 28379
The Family would like to thank Richmond County Hospice, Christy Grooms and Joann Hussey who gave their time to help with Fairley during his illness.
