Benjamin Clyde “Rudy” Walters Sr., 71, of Blackshear, Ga., died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at the Satilla Hospice House.

A memorial service for Walters will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening, Oct. 8, at the Pearson-Dial Chapel, Blackshear, Ga.

Memorialization is by cremation.

Visitation for Walters will be held Monday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born in Hamlet, North Carolina on June 27, 1941,Walters was the son of the late Benjamin Roscoe and Thelma Scurry Walters. He was retired from CSX Transportation where he had been a road mechanic. Walters was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Melba Baggs Walters of Blackshear; a daughter, Linda (Gary) Joyner of Ringgold, Ga.; three sons, Ben C. Jr. (Paula) Walters of Lancaster, Ohio, Rocky (Nancy) Walters of Warner Robins, Ga. and David (Angela) Walters of Blackshear, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren with a sixth on the way and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Memorials may be made to Satilla Hospice House, 811 Beacon St., Waycross, GA 31501.
