A Monroe man died after a motorcycle-truck accident at 11:54 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 74 Business west of Rockingham, the N.C. Highway Patrol said.
Fred Frank Pugliese, 51, Monroe, died as a result of injuries when the motorcycle he was riding struck the side of a cement truck, which the patrol said entered his path of travel.
Injured was a rider on another motorcycle, John James Zito Jr., 44, Riverside, Conn. He was taken to FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital, the patrol said. His motorcycle swerved to avoid collision and came to rest on the roadway, the patrol said.
Driver of the truck was Edward Duwayne Baucom of Morven, the patrol said.
The 1993 cement truck received $1,000 damage; Pugliese’s 2006 Harley-Davidson, $3,000; and Zito’s 2003 Harley-Davidson, $3,000.

At 9:40 p.m. May 2 on Airport Road, Rockingham, Willie Davion Jones, 23, Airport Road, Rockingham, was reported by the patrol as injured in a hit and run accident.
He drove to Sandhills Regional Medical Center, the patrol said.
The patrol said Jones was attempting to make a left turn when struck from behind by a vehicle which then left the scene after impact.
Jones’ 1996 Nissan received $1,200 damage.

Seven people were taken to FHRMH following an accident at 3:15 p.m. May 4 on U.S. 74 Business east of Hamlet.
The report listed the driver of the sport utility vehicle , Elizabeth Ann Cluff, 62, U.S. 74 East, Hamlet, as injured in addition to Lisa Cluff, 17, Homeward Drive, Hamlet; and Steven Hildreth, 16, Howell Road, Hamlet.
In a car driven by Keyoka Quinshawn Douglas of Laurinburg and reported injured were Shakira Smith, 28, Laurinburg; Janasia Smith, 3, Laurel Hill; Bianca Smith, 6, Laurel Hill; and Aniah Smith, 1, Laurel Hill.
Elizabeth Cluff was cited for failure to yield right of way for a stop sign.
Cluff’s 2007 Chevrolet received $3,000 damage; Douglas’ 1995 Ford, $3,000.
