Children got candy and a chance to show off their costumes at the first trunk-or-treating event held at First Baptist Church in Hamlet on Wednesday. “The trunk-or-treat was a huge success,” said Bill Dennis, who took pictures at the event. “It was beyond my expectations. The (church staff was) very well pleased. I would say they had about 450 to 500 people come through.”
