Dear Editor,
Having been born and raised in Richmond County, I have often heard friends and family make the statement, “If you are sick, you had better go to Pinehurst. Don’t stop at Richmond Memorial Hospital.”
Doing what we do as people, I listened and believed for roughly two-thirds of my life. Moore Regional was the destination for illness or events that dictated more than a prescription, and my family was treated well.
My first son was born in June of 2010, and considering my job requirements, it was not practical for my wife to go to Moore County. We nervously went to FirstHealth Richmond Memorial, and I have to tell you that we were treated like royalty. Every need was answered, and the nurses took as much care of a worried father as they did of the delivering mother and newborn child.
My second son was born there in June of this year, and our experience was even better than the first. It may help that the same staff was working, and anticipated walking the hall with me. My mother has required more care as she has aged, and as a collective, my brother and I would not take mom anywhere else. If nothing else, we know that the staff at RMH will take incredible care of mom.
I believe that a good portion of the fantastic care is again due to the fact that roughly the same staff is employed at RMH every time we visit. Not only is the staff very caring and knowledgeable, they also remember mom. I could rattle names of exceptional staff members off, but frankly, everyone is exceptional. I am certain that some folks will maintain their preconceived notions about health care in Richmond County, and it will sadly be their loss.
Not to take a thing away from Moore Regional, because it is a fine hospital. If anyone believes that they will receive more comprehensive and complete care there versus Richmond Memorial, I just believe that they are wasting gas. With today’s gas prices, none of us can afford that! I would recommend FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital to anyone without regret. You will be well taken care of, and won’t lose a single advantage by selecting Richmond over Moore.
If you are reading this, and you know me (or don’t), send a Facebook message my way. I would be delighted to tell anyone in-depth about our experiences at Richmond Memorial. I thank the good Lord for RMH, each and every time we need them.
P.S.,
I said I wouldn’t mention names, but if you or a loved one is admitted to RMH, and you are fortunate enough to have Brandy, Samantha or Tonya as your nurse, you may rest extra-easy, they are phenomenal.
