The annual PetFest/Walk for Animals event at Hinson Lake was postponed last week due to bad weather, but the event will take place this Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Hinson Lake in Rockingham, and weather forecasts are predicting sunshine.

The donation to walk is $10 per pet, and all proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Richmond County.

HSRC will also be providing low-cost spay/neuter vouchers at PetFest on Sunday. There will also be a 50/50 auction, and everyone who enters to walk will get a raffle ticket. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased.

Jimmy McDonald Photography will be on hand to take free photos of pampered pets, and vendors will be selling everything from pizza to pet items.

This is the second annual PetFest/Walk for Animals hosted by HSRC, and the shelter hopes the community will turn out to support for the only non-profit animal shelter that serves Richmond County.

Due to the outreach and rescue work the shelter has been doing to prevent the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals, funds are low and the shelter is asking for the community to help support its efforts in caring for the community’s animals, said shelter staff.

For more information on the event, fostering an animal or donating, call 910-895-0335.
