On Tuesday, Richmond County will join the rest of the United States in voting for the next president as well as the next North Carolina governor, among many contested races.

Thousands have already voted during Early Voting and the rest of the registered voters will have a chance to cast their ballot in their precinct. At the end of this article, voters can check a list of precinct addresses.

The congressional candidates that will appear on the ballot are incumbent Democrat Larry Kissell, write-in Democrat Antonio Blue and Republican Richard Hudson.

Two candidates are competing for your vote for North Carolina Senate. On the Nov. 6 ballot you will see Democrat Gene McLaurin and Republican Gene McIntyre. These candidates are competing for the seat of Senator Bill Purcell who is not seeking re-election.

Democrat Rep. Ken Goodman is running unopposed for the N.C. House in District 66, and Democrat Garland Pierce is running unopposed for District 48.

Five county commissioner candidates will square off for three open seats on the Richmond County Board of Commissioners come the Nov. 6 General Election. Three candidates are Democrats and two are Republicans. On the ballot are incumbent Democrat and current Board of Commissioners Chair Kenneth Robinette and incumbent Democrat John Garner, and challengers Democrat Jimmy Capps, Republican Georgia Cagle and Republican Donnie Richardson. The three candidates earning the most votes will be elected to the county board.

The non-partisan race for the District Court Judge seat is heating up alongside the partisan races. On the Nov. 6 General Election ballot, voters will see incumbent Judge Lisa Thacker vying for re-election against challenger John Nance.
