Dear Editor,
I just have to say a few good words about our Volunteer Fire Department of Cordova, I don’t think we really know how much these guys do until we need them.
A couple of weeks ago on a Saturday morning, my smoke detector went off and announced that there was smoke in my hallway. I was looking and smelling around when my phone rang and it was my security system with Time Warner asking if I needed to have the fire department dispatched to the house.
I told them that I thought everything was OK but I immediately saw trucks and cars coming to the rescue. These guys were so nice and caring to make sure that everything was OK.
It happened to be steam coming from the bathroom as someone was taking a shower (hot one evidently).
One of the guys asked if he could come and look around and of course that made me feel better and I knew he would know the signs of fire or smoke more so than I would.
Let’s make sure to take care of our volunteers as they go out of their way to take care of us.
