Dear Editor,

Though it was a bust, we appreciate Larry Kissell voting against a bill by the House to bar Planned Parenthood from all federal funding. Too bad it passed, but thanks anyway, Congressman Kissell. Right-wingers seem to automatically link Planned Parenthood with abortions. But Planned Parenthood is about much, much more than that. Funding allows them to offer HIV tests, cancer screenings and birth control to those who cannot afford such procedures. Now the bill goes to the Senate. We need to tell our senators how we feel about this bill, how passing it would (pun intended) throw the baby out with the bathwater. Unless you want more unwanted pregnancies among poor women, more HIV related illnesses and more cancer cases that have not been detected and treated in time because people do not have a way to pay for preventive medicine. Thanks for nothing, Congress!

Wezley, you couldn't sound condescending if you tried. However, you did a very poor job of trying to use my argument against me.

I happen to think pretty much every woman out there would agree with me over you, anyway - yeah, because I actually bother to listen to them.

Erik.Phuridae.....It makes me wonder exactly how you can think for a woman?Unless you're a woman, which I seriously doubt, you just analyzed how a woman would feel about rape, abortion, and adoption. It's not insensitive for me to say what I said,it's a part of it and needs to be dealt with. What's more serious, rape or murder of a life?I couldn't decide that and there's really one way to get one side of the issue taken care of and that's to be prolife and let the life grow. However,I do NOT presume to now what a woman would feel or think in that situation.Remember, rape is a very low,low percentage of these cases also;not to sound condescending.

aragorn.....Read my post again.I hardly said anything and if you'll read it you'll see that. You need to know ,though, that what you wrote about"out with the bathwater" is a tasteless slur and you aught to be ashamed.I don't find anything funny in the whole Planned Parenthood Organization but obviously I am too dense to see the "joking" nature of the subject.

I'm of 2 minds on this.

1) I don't like that my tax dollars are going to support this. I don't want my tax dollars funding abortions. I'm not opposed to them for some that feel it's necessary - I just want nothing to do with funding them.

2) Well, really, I'm more opposed to some of the comments.

Wezley wrote: "I mean if a woman is raped, you would think that abortion would be ok,I just don't feel that way.I think adoption would be more in line with what to do because regardless of"why" a woman is pregnant."

Seriously? I mean, what sort of insensitive garbage is this. I guess this person does not know anyone that has had to suffer through this. Can you imagine then, the pain and suffering to put someone through, FOR AN ADDITIONAL 9 months? This being a CONSTANT REMINDER that they were raped. Additionally, have you ever had any really bad injury, like, even a Kidney Stone? And you expect a woman to go through childbirth for a child that she not only didn't want but was NEVER MEANT to be?

Come off it. That's utterly ridiculous, and I fear that the rhetoric could have caused a drop in IQ points.

I am so thankful that the mothers of George Washington, Abe Lincoln, Ben Franklin etc. were not abortionists and most likely would have been appalled at even the suggestion.

What I gave concerning abortian and when life begins is not opinion. It is medical fact. I approach Scriptures the same way. I try my very best to stay away from opinion and private interpretation.

Thank you, Wezley

But I am of no significance as a person but I teach truth and stand up for truth including the Scriptures and that is why I and others now use the Hebrew to English Scriptures. There is no infallible translation. If it is translated by man it is fallible and not perfect but the ancient Hebrew is the oldest and most accurate but yet not perfect. It is more accurate than the over 100 English versions out there today.

I'm im agreement with Silver and Wezley. Great postings. There are alot of women centers around NC and other states that hide and put on like they are there to help the women when they offer advise on an abortion. I feel if you give someone advise to have an abortion you are an accessory tomurder. People can try to justify abortion all they want, but its murder. Wonder how many of those babies are in heaven now? Heaven must be a huge place. Ladies if you had an abortion God will forgive you if you only ask.

silveradoss....I am in total agreement with your opinion. You're right again when you challenge proponents of abortion to find ANY scripture to back this act of MURDER.They will NOT find any such scripture.God gives us the power to pro-create,not through fornication or adultry but through love and marriage. He does NOT give us the right to take life:He actually says that MURDER is sin.IF the "prevailing conviction" among many professed Christians is that scripture does NOT matter in this topic then it is very SAD indeed.Your post is "bread for thought",it is the truth and I applaud your for standing up for the truth.

If planned parenthood was not involved with the abortion issue that would be OK. But they are. Traditionally there are two ways to determine death. Loss of hearbeat and loss of brainwaves. So, obviously, the presence of hearbeat and brainwaves determine life. A baby's brainwaves can be detected at 6 weeks from conception and a heartbeat at 8 weeks with an ultasonic stethoscope. That is life my friends any way you look at it. The 6th commandment says "you do not murder." And I don't even want to talk about partial birth abortion. How can any professing christian say they support abortion and late term abortions and justify it with any Scripture? The prevailing conviction among many professing christians is that Scriptures just don't matter. How sad.

kissell is a pimp for the abortionists organizations in this state and country. he'll answer to more than just the voters for his vote to support PP which is the number one provider of abortion services in america. oh, by the way, let's stop calling it "abortion". it's MURDER. and a society that permits the outright unconditional no questions asked MURDER of their babies is a society doomed.

Mr.Landau....I agree with your post except for the "No pun intended" part as abortion is murder but I know you didn't mean any harm.Planned Parenthood would be ok if it weren't for the abortion provisions. In the case of"rape" pregnancies",I am divided.I mean if a woman is raped, you would think that abortion would be ok,I just don't feel that way.I think adoption would be more in line with what to do because regardless of"why" a woman is pregnant.it is still MURDER.I don't want to donate to something I am totally against.
